[PHOTO] Sunflower by the Galleria

While I was waiting for my bus to work this morning, my eye was caught by the sunflower that had grown up at the base of the pole marking the Dupont street stop southbound for the 29 Dufferin bus, sprouting up out of the pavement to blossom.

Once home to a U-Haul outpost, this kiosk with attached land across Dupont Street from the Galleria Mall was advertised for sale at a quarter-million dollars before it was bought some time ago. Neatly renovated, this is now available for renters at a price of $C 3500 a month. Suggested uses include dry cleaning, vehicle rental services, or a garden centre.

  • Airbnb listings in Toronto, taking up 1% of the rental market of Toronto, are causing significant harm to renters despite this seemingly small percentage. CBC reports.
  • John Lorinc is quite right to note at Spacing that the City of Toronto is not helping the housing crisis by selling off vacant land.
  • The Don River can now be celebrated, noting its rather improved status from its mid-20th century nadir. CBC Toronto reports.
  • The Scarborough RT line faced near-critical shortages of usable vehicles recently. The Toronto Star reports.
